“'Home away from home' ..but quieter!”

Reviewed 20 Apr 2019 What a find. Beautifully appointed, spacious and so very comfortable..lots of attention to detail which was much appreciated; Simon and Dominique really have everything covered - we brought far too much 'stuff' with us so we will know better next time. There's a great Spar just a few miles away so no worries restocking on fresh items. It took 24 hours for our 11 year old to acclimatise to no WIFI (the main plus point for us adults) but kids soon found other entertainment to keep them amused; it was refreshing to see them doing basic things like hide-and-seek, paddling in the river, hours of board games and just simply enjoying the freedom. This is truly a luxurious cabin and it's simply a lovely environment to reconnect with your family away from distractions. Millpond Lodge is a haven we will almost certainly return to.

As always superb!”

A wonderful retreat. The location is beautiful overlooking the border. Many things to see locally and Carlisle is a gem. Well appointed throughout.

“Gorgeous relaxing cabin.”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2019 This was second time we stayed here and it's a very special place. The owners are so helpful and friendly and the hot tub makes it. We will definitely be back soon I hope.

“Peaceful and relaxing”

Reviewed 25 Feb 2019 A second stay in this lovely lodge. We enjoyed the hot tub, and just sitting chatting in front of the logburner. We went to Keilder Forest one day and had a walk in the sunshine.

“Last Minute get away”

Reviewed 27 Jan 2019 Me my wife and our dogs have just returned from this amazing place, my wife found it on Instagram mid last week and booked it for this weekend, and WOW it really does have that WOW factor from the view from the drive down to opening the front door..very well presented with all the mod-con's (apart from wifi but this was a plus point for us time to relax and switch off). Well equipped kitchen, massive bath and separate shower as well as a separate toilet. 2 bedrooms but we only used 1 which had a comfy bed a great view out of the side window whilst lying in bed.. Plenty outdoor space for the dogs to play and right by the river (which our 2 couldn't resist) however it was flowing really quick so we had to keep an eye on them. After running around with the dogs it was chill time in the hot tub with great views over the river. Then to really relax it was back in doors light the log burner and chill with a glass of wine (or 2).. The only disappointing thing was we only stayed for 2 nights.. Until next time Liddel Water Lodges.. Many thanks Andy, Danielle, Betty & Bow.. xxx

Reviewed 14 Jan 2019 We have, over the years stayed at many log cabins across the country and have become aficionados. The Liddel water cabin is the best we’ve stayed in on every level. The location is stunning and the cabin in fixtures and fittings is perfect. It’s everything and more you could ever want from a log cabin break. The owners could not be more friendly or helpful and we’re already planning out next stay. Five star by what ever measure you use

Reviewed 27 Oct 2018 Another wonderful break at beautiful Millpond Lodge. The setting is so peaceful, lodge is extremely high spec and exceptionally clean. Will be returning, possibly to the amazing new Minetrack Lodge to celebrate my 50th!

“Fabulous location, property and facilities”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2018 We stayed with friends and our little dog for 3 nights. We found the property itself to be first class, comfortable, roomy with a beautiful view of the local river. We enjoyed the hot tub enormously. The heat generated frim the log burner was easily enough to heat the full property. The local pub some 10 minutes walk away provided a friendly service with good quality food. We definately intend returning.

Reviewed 20 Aug 2018 Just got back from our third visit, we only live 13 miles away so it's great to have this gem on our door step, as soon as we get there it's switch off time . It's pure luxury and I can't recommend it enough, it's a very special place that has become my place to go to when I need to escape and recharge. Simon and Dom are very generous and nothing is too much trouble, they are creators and they have created something here that I would travel across the world to stay at ,luckily we don't have to.

Reviewed 2 Jun 2018 Loved this place soooo much. Perfect location right on the river. Very secluded and luxurious for a romantic stay. I don’t want too many people to find out about this place though!! Close to Hadrian’s Wall - 40mins or so by car. Surrounded by beautiful countryside. Really nice pub a 10min walk up the road. Nice walk along river by Penton Bridge. We were blessed by perfect spring weather for our entire week there and made use of the BBQ and hot tub every night. From the balcony we watched the sun set as the swallows swooped over us. During the night we listened to the owls hooting to each other...bliss... We will never forget being enveloped by this place and its surroundings. And the new place on the hill is amazing - fantastic stair case made with a tree complete with roots on the side! This place is a labour of love!

Reviewed 4 Apr 2018 This was our third time staying at Liddel Water Lodge and each time has been so special. The lodge is immaculate, with all you need so that you never have to leave the place if you don’t want to. (We never want to)! It’s a place of true relaxation and the constant sound of the river just seems to wash any stresses of life away. Log fires and a hot tub allow for cozy nights in. Lack of any connection via phone or internet is such a benefit but you can get a signal just a few yards up the road if you need to. Just reopened the local pub which has had great reviews but we didn’t visit this time. We will be back for our next fix soon. Very friendly owners who are close by should you need anything! . book it know

“Real relaxing environment with perfect blending of lodge trees and river, beautiful though to interior and colours”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2018 We really relaxed as a family, loved walks ,the sound of the river, wonderful log fire and hot tub, listened to the owls at night in the trees, would have loved a whole week to explore countryside more

Reviewed 11 Jan 2018 Absolutely amazing. The cabin itself is stunning but the small touches really made it special. Dominique leaving milk and coffee and cereal and juice was really welcoming. The quality of bathrobes and blankets was lovely. Wood burning stove and hit tub were absolutely fantastic. I'm now working on the wife to get us one. Brilliant venue, excellently kitted out and the owners obviously care about their guests having a great time. Can't recommend highly enough.

“Amazing get away!”

Reviewed 20 Nov 2017 My partner and I have just returned from a fantastic long weekend in Liddel Waters Lodge, I couldn't have chosen a better place. Amazing scenery and the accommodation was incredible! Owner was friendly and helpful and we really didn't want to leave. Would thoroughly recommend a stay here. Thank you“Thank You”

Reviewed 25 Oct 2017 Thank you so much, we had a brilliant time! No signal and no wifi- big plus!!! Kids didnt want to leave :) Can’t wait to go back!

A wonderful 6 days that became 7. Its is that good!
No mobile reception, no internet, no excuses. We all had a truly great time here from the hot tub to wading in the river. The kids never once complained about being unable to use their iPads / tablets and instead built rafts out of sticks and reeds.
Don't really want to say more as i would prefer it kept quiet so that its available next time we book!
Thanks again Dom and Simon"We have barely left the cabin in three days because of its very relaxed and homely feel!'

Liddel Water Lodge is really, with out any doubt the best place I have stayed in the UK. What an amazing well built private clean peaceful lodge. The lodge is just superb, to call this place private would be an understatement, with amazing views of the river, the sound is so tranquil, private fishing, hot tub amazing, the log fire was just the icing on the cake, this lodge literally had everything you could ever ask for. The owners even though we didn't have the pleasure of meeting (not a bad point as this just made our stay even more private) clearly know what they are doing and made our stay one we will never forget. We came here in February whilst it was raining and from start to finish our holiday was truly amazing, I can't imagine this place in the summer, I can not wait to return
Thank you so much to the owners who have done an amazing job in building this place and maintaining it to the highest standard
Kindest of regards

Where to start, what a fantastic find this was the log cabin was amazing the setting overlooking the river liddle rapids in the hottub was breathtaking and the log burner(my favourite part of the stay) just stunning my 7 year old son loved it. If your bothered about WiFi then this is not the place for you but you'll regret it as it's a magical place to get away from the crazy city life and hope to visit again in the very near future thanks Dominique and Simon for the welcome gifts and letting us stay in your beautiful log cabin.

This place nourishes your soul!

If you want a place to truly unwind, take just yourself and/or your special ones to this spectacular lodge.

We left after three days feeling like we've had a month away.

Every home comfort thought of. The lack of wifi and phone signal should be seen as a positive.

Book it! You'll never be sorry you did.

Beautiful walks nearby to enjoy too.

We can't wait to return another time.

This lodge is out of this world. Cannot praise the owners Dominique and Simon enough, from correspondence before we arrived to meeting them when they called in to check everything was OK with our stay. The lodge is a dream, the finishing touches are excellent and the location is superb. This is a perfect place to stay if you want to come and relax and enjoy the local scenery and wildlife. It has no internet and very limited phone signal which we actually classed as a bonus, because it forces you to switch off and relax. Cant wait to come back again.....

Ok, so We've just come back from our 2nd visit to the lodge for a long weekend. We visited exactly the same time last year and the fact we travelled a 650 mile round trip for the 2nd time is testament to how good this place is.
It's location is superb, very relaxing.
Phone reception is all but none existent , which to many would be off putting, to us it was an excuse to relax and shut ourselves off from the world so to speak.
The cabin has the wow factor and everything is laid out for you from coffee to the bottle of wine kindly presented on entry.
The owners are also very accommodating with regards our dog who goes everywhere with us( he loves the place).
This place is worth every penny. Perhaps in the near future I'll return again, and hopefully for a little longer.
It couldn't recommended this place enough.
Go ahead get booking !!!!!!!!!
Many thanks jamie/Helen and banksy !!!

Utterly blown away by how stunning this place is. The lodge is perfectly situated next to the river creating a perfect ambience of tranquility and relaxation. It is well furnished and extremely cosy inside with excellent facilities. There is no wifi and little phone reception but that's kinda the whol idea - you do feel like you're ion another world when you stay here. Perfect for relaxing and escaping the real world! The hot tub is divine and you will most definitely get a fabulous sleep in the comfy beds.

A wonderful location, the lodge was gorgeous, very well equipped, and tastefully furnished,A truly cosy and comfortable place in which to spend a relaxing holiday in peaceful surroundings overlooking the river liddel A lovely log burner is situated in the lounge with a plentiful supply of logs,we enjoyed our evenings warming our toes and sipping wine in the glow of the fire. Our first dip in the hot tub was a great experience, enjoying the warm soothing water while looking up into a star filled sky, sheer bliss,we emerged feeling very relaxed. Our hosts Simon & Dominique, maintain the property to a high standard, the hot tub is checked on a daily basis.A welcome pack of champagne, local homemade marmalade & delicious shortbread along with pods for the coffee machine were there on our arrival,a nice gesture, along with milk, tea and sugar.Simon called in to see if we had settled in ok and said if we needed anything just give him a call.If you are looking for a quiet location free from the hustle and bustle of modern life in a location within reach of some picturesque and breathtaking views then this little oasis of tranquillity is perfect,we certainly had a wonderful time and left very reluctantely to return home, relaxed, refreshed with some happy memories and will definitely be returning again,we have found a little gem.Thank-you Simon & Dominique..................................

My wife & I stayed here for 5 days following our wedding. Couldn't have picked a more relaxing place, peaceful place to spend our minimoon. From the early morning/late night tubs to the roaring log burning fire, we enjoyed every minute and highly recommend Liddel Water Lodge!!
April 2015
We stayed for three nights at Liddel Water Lodge. It was fantastic. Left immaculately clean, which was very important to us. Pretty much every little amenity you could need right there, within the house.

Hot tub was lovely.

If we had one tiny gripe, and it's minuscule—it's that we would have liked some curtains on the main big windows. The missus felt it was a little too "open" at night.

Overall, it's an excellent place to stay. It was extremely relaxing and had a very professional finish to everything about the place.

The wildly positive reviews are all accurate. This is a lovely place to relax and chill out, especially for couples. Would like to think that we'll be back.

A 60th birthday treat for husband and both daughters.
Accommodation was first class and the artisan log cabin was amazing.
Set right on the river with views on all sides.
A very special place in which to recharge our batteries.

We came here to get away from the city for a few days and fell in love with the place- and absolutely loved the fact we had no signal on our phones! The sound of the river as we chilled in the hot tub was so tranquil!
Would visit again and would recommend again and again!

The cabin really is a masterpiece of craftsmanship in every department equalled only by the lovely surroundings. "The lodge is superb. The structure, a credit to the artisan that built it and the interior and attention to detail, a credit to Simon and Dom. The setting at the waters edge is amazing. The log burner has kept us VERT toastie and the girls have made exceptionally good use of the hot tub. Nice walk over the bridge and turn left. This stretch of river is an undiscovered gem!

Thanks for the great holiday. Only half an hour up the road and yet it feels like a different world"
